On our orientation walk of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, we ended up at Victory Gate. The concrete used to build it was donated by the USA for development of the capitals airport, but the government at the time decided to use it for something more interesting.. hence it's affectionately referred to as the 'vertical runway'. This is the sign that greets you when you get there... i hope whoever wrote this doesn't work in their tourism office.
This is the lump of concrete in all it's glory. Not as bad as the sign makes out!
